New Uploader Released - Fixes 0 AD Problem

News Post Posted by OverloadUT at Tue, 25 Sep 2007 7:56 am
I just released a new version of the uploader which should fix the problem where the date doesn't get reported properly after 0 AD. Sorry it took so long.

You can get it on the Downloads page.

New Uploader Released for BTS

News Post Posted by OverloadUT at Wed, 15 Aug 2007 10:57 pm
It's a bit overdue, but a new uploader has been released that adds support for Beyond the Sword. I still need to add the new leaders to the database so you can select them on the website, but that shouldn't prevent you from using Civstats to track turn information.

Head on over to the downloads page to get it!

This is the new server!

News Post Posted by OverloadUT at Sat, 5 May 2007 4:38 pm
If you can see this entry, then the DNS change has propagated to the DNS servers you use and you are now viewing Civstats running off of the new server.

Basically, this means you can view your game stats again. It might say that the uploader is disconnected for your game if the DNS change has not gotten to the DNS servers that your actual game server is running on. If this lasts for more than 48 hours, then please send me an email as it should not take that long.

Server transfer

News Post Posted by OverloadUT at Sat, 5 May 2007 9:16 am

IMPORTANT NOTICE!

The Civstats site is being transferred over to a completely new server today. All of the data transfer has already been done, and I am about to do the database transfer.

It will take a few days for the DNS change to propagate throughout the Internet.

I will configure the upload script to deny all uploads to the old server. Theoretically this will cause all the uploaders out there to keep retrying their uploads until it gets a successful response (which will happen when the DNS change is propagated to the DNS servers you use). What this means is that you should keep your uploaders running even though they will show that there was an error uploading.

You will know that you are viewing the new server because I will put a new news post on the new server and not this old one

Here goes nothing!

Victory!

News Post Posted by OverloadUT at Tue, 17 Oct 2006 9:28 am
I just rolled out a small but needed update that I think people will like: Victories!

Check out This game to see it in action. Pretty spiffy don't you think? This is not automatic; game administrators must manually set the winner of the game and the cause of victory because the uploader can't tell when the game is over. There is a new link on the "Admin Tools" bar called "Declare Winner" - click it to set the winner of your game.

This also means that the List of Games page now has another section just for finished games.

Site is back online!

News Post Posted by OverloadUT at Wed, 9 Aug 2006 8:31 pm
As you may have noticed, the site was down for almost a week.

The short story is a hacker compromised the server which forced me to reinstall the OS and restore from backups.

If you left your uploaders running during the downtime, they should already have detected that the server is back up and uploaded all the data they were storing in their queue. I designed the uploaders to work even if the site goes offline, and now I know it works!

The score graphs are disabled, for now. I will need to do some work to get them working on the new version of PHP that's installed.

Minor Uploader Update

News Post Posted by OverloadUT at Wed, 26 Jul 2006 3:06 pm
A minor update to the uploader has been released. It fixes a bug that caused the application to lock up when using the "Auto Detect" feature and more than 1 window was detected.

You can download the latest version on the downloads page.

Official CivStats.com site launch!

News Post Posted by OverloadUT at Sun, 23 Jul 2006 7:41 pm
The last site update, detailed below, marked a huge milestone in the development of this project. I have crossed off every item on my design doc that I wanted completed for version 1.0 of the site. This means that CivStats.com is no longer beta!

For a project like this, being "beta" or not doesn't really mean much, but it's a pretty big personal accomplishment regardless.

Uploader Version 1.0 Released!

News Post Posted by OverloadUT at Sun, 23 Jul 2006 7:24 pm
Version 1.0 of the CivStats.com Uploader has been released.

This is a major and mandatory update for all games. The old versions of the uploader will work for a while, but eventually I will be disabling all uploads from older versions. Please tell your game administrators to update!

The download link and detailed changes can be viewed on the new uploader page.

More new features

News Post Posted by OverloadUT at Sun, 23 Jul 2006 7:14 pm
Another site update was just rolled out.
  • There is now a pretty pathetic FAQ section so that people coming to this site for the first time can actually learn what it's about.
  • There is now a page where you can see what the latest version of the uploader is.
  • There is a new event for when a player is eliminated, and eliminated players will show "eliminated" as their status.
  • If a game has not received an update from the uploader for more than 45 minutes, an "Uploader timed out" event will appear in the log. This should help game administrators know when there is a connectivity problem with their server.
  • The List of Games page now has two sections: Active Games and Inactive Games. This should keep the list a little less cluttered. Also, the newest games appear at the bottom of the list, instead of a seemingly random order.
  • Plus several backend improvements: Years are stored as integers instead of strings, gamelog events now know the year they occurred in, and more. This stuff isn't noticable, but it will greatly help in the future of the project!
